In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.Biz Square Enix CEO, Yosuke Matsuda, assures fans that the Deus Ex IP is not on ice and that the team are currently discussing what to do with the next instalment.
In the interview, Matsuda was quick to dismiss the rumours that the franchise was dead stating that there has never been any discussion about discontinuing the series. The reason Square Enix isn't currently working on a new Deus Ex is due to the publishers focusing their efforts on other titles.
"What I can say is Eidos Montreal has always developed Deus Ex, and the issue is we do not have limitless resources. We have several big titles that we work with and that's partly a factor in what our line-up looks like. Of course, it would be ideal if we could work on all of them all of the time, but the fact of the matter is some titles have to wait their turn."
The rest of the interview delves deeper into what Square Enix is currently working on and how the team wish to blend Western and Japanese games. As for Deus Ex, although Matsuda assures fans that it isn't being discontinued it does seem like we may have to wait quite awhile for the next instalment.
